Foreigners with puppy stray among protesters (Video)

Ecotopia Biketour made it on the news today, although in a very unusual way: Three foreigners with bikes made the usual iconography of Friday protests in Skopje. Impressions of Kosovo

Maalesef, biz Türkçesine bu metni tercüme değil. For the sake of viewer convenience, the content is shown below in the alternative language. You may click the link to switch the active language. On the 31st of July we cycled through a valley in south-eastern Serbia towards the border of Kosovo. Some small villages every couple of kilometers, not a lot of people on the streets, barely any traffic. The night before it had already felt weird to see a big truck or bus making their way into the darkness of the mountains every now and again, not really seeming like…

Eatotopia – the Culinary Side

I went to the BikeTour as I was running away from a Rainbow Gathering (jolly hippy stuff) and was immediately relieved to meet some normal, cool, approachable people. A real collection of dreamers of a better world, but also with the practical mindset of those who make daily use of spanners and allen keys. But the most striking common trait was our ferocious (but strictly vegan) appetite. The First Three Days in Sofia

The first of us arrived in Sofia on Thursday afternoon. After orientating ourselves, we were met at Eagle Bridge by a guy from Sofia Green Tours – a group of volunteers who give guided tours of the city by bike – and were shown our place to sleep quite deep in the Borisova park. About a hundred people showed up, and with the lights glowing, they descended slowly, stuttering patiently across zebra…

Ecotopia biketour visits S.O.S Halkidiki struggle against goldmine

Back in 2013, ecotopia biketour got involved with a local struggle against a big gold extraction project in South-East Europe, in Rosia Montana, in Romania. We had heard about a similar project that would destroy an unspoilt forest in Halkidiki, a peninsula close to Thessaloniki, where most of the coordination for 2014 is taking place. Some people of the S.O.S. Halkidiki assembly had luckily heard about our spring meeting and travelled to Thessaloniki to meet us and join in the discussions. They invited us to come and visit them for a weekend at the end of March, when there was…

Spring meeting 2014 in Thessaloniki: Kick start to Biketour 2014 planning

The Biketour Spring meeting took place from 13 to 16 March in Thessaloniki. We were hosted in a social center called Scholeio (http://sxoleio12.wordpress.com/), a former school which was squatted after being closed. The contacts to this place had been established by some people from biketour 2013 who continued from our endpoint in Cluj all the way to Thessaloniki. They held a presentation about ecotopia biketour there past November, so we were already known and quickly welcomed to hold the spring meeting in this lively place. Some biketour feeling came up with collective cooking of delicious, vegan, predominantly organic, meals that…
