We are excited to announce the region of Ecotopia Biketour 2026 ……………………
Sápmi and Scandinavia
It has been repeatedly wished for in the last years to have the biketour in that part of Europe, so here it is. The rough plan includes swedish- and norwegian-occupied Sápmi as well as so-called Sweden, Norway and Denmark, perhaps Northern Germany too!
This year, besides biketouring in Scandinavia, we’d like to visit and connect with Sámi projects and villages. Sápmi, the land of indigenous Sámi people has been colonized by Sweden, Finland, Norway, Russia and its predecessors and since been under their dominion. The colonial and racist treatment of Sámi people continues nowadays especially through so-called green transition with land-grabbing and extractivism, increasing burdens upon reindeer herding culture. There have been and still are Sámi projects and protests resisting ethno- and ecocide. For more on this subject, we recommend the book No mine in Gállok Ecocide and colonialism in Swedish-occupied Sápmi, also available online.
Ecotopia and visiting projects
Ecotopia is a self-organised biketour riding across different parts of Europe every year creating community and connection on the road, learning together, organizing on consensus basis without hierarchies. We strive to organize using the values of DIY culture, ecological lifestyle, queerfeminism, antiracism and antiopppression.
The tour lasts around 3 months (starting in June or July) and consists of diverse and international group of around 15-30 cyclists at a time. We visit different activist and social projects, hold workshops and skillshares on the way, learn to address injustice, and support each other in many ways.
During the tour we’d like to visit and connect with projects that align with our values. This could be community centers, squats, gardening projects, bike kitchens, co-operatives, land projects, collective spaces or whatever else. We’re also looking forward to hosting workshops, lectures, skillshares and other events during the tour. We’d like to call for projects and people in Sápmi, Scandinavia and around to make this possible with us.
When we visit a project or a place, we usually like to stay for anything between 1 and 5 nights. Besides having some time to rest, we aim to support the project or community by sharing our time and skills. We can give workshops or help with physical work for example. We cook meals everyday and are happy to share them with our hosts. When visiting projects we would need access to water and electricity. We are also interested in connecting with projects along our way, even for one afternoon together, so don’t hesitate to contact us if you are interested!
Childish weeks
This year, for the first time, we want to organize Childish Weeks – the more accessible and welcoming time to join the biketour with kids. Those weeks shall be organized focusing on the needs of children and their caretakers part-taking, while not excluding anyone else! See our blog post elaborating on our ideas and how you can collaborate.
Call for projects
