We have been lucky! Lucky to have been hosted by amazing people in the little vegetable farm in Bygdeå, been invited to their sauna, swimming trips and sharing rhubarb pie … crafting little bycicles with a visiting kid, piling fire wood and singing karaoke! While our stay and preparation time in Bygdeå, we also fixed our bikes, sorted the communal equipment and had a few movie screenings of Sámi films. Introducing the rough route plan and rough dates (=changes possible!) for Ecotopia Biketour 2026. Some notes: Regular cycling is planned to be around 35–55km per day, with an overall average of 37km/day, and a rest day every fourth day. Mind it’s not as easy there as it may look by the sole distance (dominant winds, elevations, surface, weather); besides, there’s usually plenty opportunities to ride more:) During the Childish Weeks we bike around 20km per day and have rest days more often. So far around 15 parents have gotten in contact with us and expressed interest in joining the Childish Weeks with their 1–3 children each. This is much more interest that we have expected! We are excited to see how this experiment will turn out! When we first announced the Childish Weeks, we did not realize some of the differences in the needs of people with very young children and with older children. For many years we were wondering what is the reason that people with children are very rarely joining Ecotopia Biketour, while on other biketours this seems to be different. Now some of us have become parents ourselves, and it starts to seem that the biggest reason why there are no children on the Biketour is that there are no children on the Biketour. Biketouring with children requires additional effort, preparation, skills and confidence, and in addition to managing the daily life on the tour itself, it is particularly challenging to get the right equipment to carry both children and luggage…
