Our Winter Meeting will take place from Friday, January 30th 2015 to Monday, February 2nd 2015 in Tagungshaus Wernsdorf, just outside of Berlin.

The purpose of this meeting is to get feedback from each other what has been done and what hasn’t, and to possibly introduce more people to the preparation of 2015.

Everyone is invited to the meeting, even if you don’t have time to take on any tasks and just want to find out about the Biketour, you’re very welcome to join.

Please let us know by writing to 2015 at ecotopiabiketour dot net if you are intending to come, or if you would like to join parts of the meeting via Skype. You can reach us during the meeting by calling +49 1578 4844802.

How to get there

To Berlin

Generally, it is quite easy to hitchhike to Berlin, as there are no big cities in the North-West of Germany, so most traffic is going to Berlin. In Germany it hitchhiking works best by asking the drivers at rest stops on the motorway.

Deutsche Bahn is the German railway company. They are usually really expensive, but sometimes you get a special deal. There is also a website for last-minute tickets. Apart from that, there are special Germany-wide day-tickets for the regional trains, which are quite cheap when travelling in a group. The Quer-durchs-Land-Ticket is 44 Euros for a single person + 8 Euros for each of up to 4 additional people, on the weekend you can use the Schönes-Wochenende-Ticket for 40 Euros for a single person + 4 Euros for each of up to 4 additional people. These tickets you can buy on the internet or on the spot at the vending machine in the station. On the Bahn website you can search for regional train connections by clicking on “Further search options” and then selecting “Only local transport”.

For coach connections, check out Busliniensuche.

Ride shares (Mitfahrgelegenheit) are quite common in Germany. Fahrtfinder searches different ride share websites, for example BesserMitfahren and Mitfahrgelegenheit (commercial and evil, but has the most offers). The prices are usually the same as for the buses, but they are much faster (no speed limit on many motor ways). Many people speak basic English.

We have a small amount of money available to reimburse travel costs to the meeting, so please ask us if you need this by emailing 2015 at ecotopiabiketour dot net

To the place

See the map on where exactly it is.

BVG finds public transportation connections in Berlin. To get to Tagungshaus Wernsdorf, you will have to go to the bus stop Wernsdorf Schleuse. You will have to tell the driver that you have to get off there, else the bus will not go there (pronounce the stop “Vairnsdorf Shloysa”).

If you don’t know your the exact time you are going and can thus not look up a specific connection on the BVG site, this is the connection you have to take: Take the S-Bahn metro to Zeuthen in the very south-east (see the map, which you can also find on every station and in the trains). From there take bus 733 in the direction of Königs Wusterhausen and tell the driver that you want to get off at Wernsdorf Schleuse. From anywhere in Berlin, you will need the ticket Einzelfahrschein Berlin ABC for this, which is 3,30 € and is valid on all the trains and buses.

At the bus stop, facing away from the river, you will see a gravel track. Follow it and you will find Tagungshaus Wernsdorf on the left just before entering the forest.
