Worldcarfree.net is a clearinghouse of information from around the world on how to revitalise our towns and cities and create a sustainable future. In addition to serving the carfree movement, Worldcarfree.net offers resources for architects, planners, teachers/professors, students, decision-makers and engaged citizens.
With the theme "Building a Livable Future in a Changing Climate", this year's conference will be held at Istanbul's Mimar Sinan University of Fine Arts from

Following the Towards Carfree Cities conference, WCN is holding a youth exchange on the theme of how youth can become engaged in urban planning decision-making. The 27 participants have been selected and planning is underway.

We're looking for young volunteers aged 18-30 to work in the network’s Prague office for a 12-month period through the European Voluntary Service (EVS) programme. The intern would have some flexibility on which projects to would work on, based on his/her skills,
interest and experience. Applicants must have or find an officially approved EVS sending organisation. This is an ongoing opportunity. More info

These days, the small city of Spoleto, Italy is constantly offended and attacked by cars. Traffic is out of control and last winter PM10 exceeded the legal limits in this small city. To see it free from cars would finally be a dream! We hope that the project "Spoleto: Carfree City Open to People"
will yield some positive results, but the environmental group Legambiente Spoleto expresses caution at this very ambitious and expensive project.

This year the mobile eco-community will pedal its way from
Spain to Portugal, to join the
Ecotopia gathering. Moving all their stuff by sheer muscle power, the bike tour will create a do-it-yourself "DIY" eco-mobile community building strong connections among a diverse group of participants as well as between them and their hosts.
